Biography |
| Jo Gray is a full-time freelance photographer. He has exhibited since 1989 throughout the Northwest, including the Barrel Store, Carrick on Shannon, the Force 10 annual photographic exhibition and at the Model Arts Centre, Sligo. Other shows include the Iotas National Small Works Exhibition (1993) at the RHA Gallery Dublin, the Sligo Art Gallery and the Force 10 Travelling Exhibition in conjunction with the Donegal and Mayo Arts officers. He was a prizewinner in the national photographic competition 'Mixed Feelings' adjudicated by Derek Spiers, a photographer with the Sunday Tribune and Paddy Woodworth, arts editor with the Irish Times. He has worked as the photographic editor of the critically acclaimed Force 10, an Irish journal, since its inception in 1989. Comissioned work includes; publicity shots for The Blue Raincoat Theatre Company, Sligo. , the Pegasus Theatre Company, Sligo., the Eclipse Theatre Company, Sligo and the Theatre Omnibus, Ennis, Co. Clare. Comissioned portraits include Irish Writers for Harvill Press, London, Viking / Penguin, New York and Gandon Publications, Cork. Recent work appears in the major Sligo County Council and Sligo Corporation Arts Development launched in the autumn of 1998. He is currently promoting his 'Hearts Desire' collection, a fusion of poetry by W.B. Yeats with original images by Jo Gray.
